1Timothy 6:12, Matthew 26:41, Joshua 1:5-9, Ephesians 6:10-18
1.) Prepare to Fight = Ephesians 6:10, 2Corinthians 12:10 and 13:4.
“In conclusion be strong in the Lord – be empowered through your union with Him. Draw your strength from Him, that strength which His boundless might provides.”
The strength needed to fight is not our own!
We keep trying to advance in our own strength not using the tools God has made available to us.
How is the strength of your relationship with Him today?
2.) Know Your Enemy = Ephesians 6:11-12, Revelation 12:4, 2Corinthians 11:15.
The devil is scheming; are you standing?
Don’t fight with those who are not your enemy; it’s who is behind them that is your enemy.
3.) The Right Tools for the Job = Ephesians 6:13-17.
There is armor for us to wear, and it is God’s!
a.) “…having girded your waist with truth…” (Vs.14)
John 14:6, John 17:17, John 8:32.
This is the entirety of God’s revealed Word; the whole Body of Truth contained in the Bible.
b.) “…the breastplate of righteousness…” (Vs.14) 2Corinthians 5:21.
I do not have any righteousness of my own. Live a consistent life of obedience and the enemy has very little to use against you!
c.) “…having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of peace…” (Vs.15) Ephesians 4:1, 1Peter 3:15.
Without the “walk” there is no power in our words.
d.) “…taking the shield of faith…” (Vs.16) Hebrews 11:1, Daniel 3:17.
Our confidence in God comes from His promises, unchanging character, and His undying love for us.
e.) “…the helmet of salvation…” (Vs.17) Romans 10:17 and 12:2.
The knowledge of and confidence in His salvation will protect my mind and thoughts.
Your salvation does not depend on what you do but upon what He has done!
f.) “…the sword of the Spirit…” (Vs.17)
God’s Word is our only offensive weapon.
Matthew 4:1-11, Hebrews 4:12, 2Corinthians 10:3-5.
If we use it improperly, we can hurt ourselves and others unintentionally.
4.) Communicate With Your Commander = Ephesians 6:18
Prayer keeps us in touch with our Commander.
The power comes from God; the waiting for that power is prayer.
Isaiah 40:29-31, Colossians 4:2, Romans 12:12, 1Thessalonians 5:17, Daniel 11:32.
In the spiritual battle, prayer is fundamental and indispensable to victory.
We fight from a position of victory!
