Nehemiah 13:23-31
1.) Where Does That Path Lead? = Vs.23-24.
If I step onto this path, where will it take me?
Nehemiah 10:30, Ruth 1:1-5 and Vs.16-17, Deuteronomy 7:3-4
Once I set my foot on this path, where will it lead my children?
Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Joshua 4:4-7
When the parents don’t walk with the Lord, what model will the children follow?
2.) Don’t Be Like Everyone Else = Vs.23-24, 28-31.
1Samuel 8:5
We don’t want to be different.
2Corinthians 6:14-18
Christians are supposed to do things differently.
You may have a lot in common, but you don’t share the most foundational things.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can ignore what God says and still have it all go your way.
3.) Learn from Others’ Mistakes = Vs.26-27.
1Kings 11:1-8
It has to do with the next generation.
What do you want to hand down to your children?
1Corinthians 10: 1-11.
Couldn’t we make fewer mistakes by learning from others? And, if you do the same, what makes you think you’ll have a different result?
4.) Clean House…Again = Vs.25, 29-31.
I wonder if some of us don’t need someone to come alongside us and rough us up a bit.
I am advocating strong, active and relentless accountability!
Romans 8:13
We’re not putting our sins to death.
Ephesians 4:22, 1Timothy 6:10
We sin when we place a greater value on the relationship than obedience to the Lord.
There are some things in your life that need to get dealt with, and you’ve been too easy on it.
Jesus died on a Cross 2,000 years ago to provide you with the forgiveness for that sin, but also the power to deal with it.
Philippians 4:13
Sometimes that old sin is the mismanagement of my relationships.
