1.) Rediscover God’s Truth = Vs.7-9.
God’s Word will help us see how we got to where we are.
How will we ever walk a new path if we don’t identify the problems with the old path?
Hebrews 10:19-23, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:15, Ephesians 4:24
How can we walk a new way, be a new creation, a new man, a new self, if we keep walking on the old path?
2.) Understand What Got Me Here = Nehemiah 9:1-3, 5-7, and 16.
EVERY call to repent is a call to understand how I got here.
John 8:1-11, Romans 6:12-14
We need to see the sins that got us into this mess if we are going to move forward in repentance.
3.) Getting My Affairs in Order = Nehemiah 8:13-18.
The next step in our repentance and restoration is to get back to the first things.
Revelation 2:4, Matthew 6:33, Proverbs 3:5-6, Luke 19:1-10
If you have been backsliding in your faith, see how you got here, return to the basics and clean your house.
4.) One Thing Left to Do = Nehemiah 8:6 and 12:27, 31 and 43.
What they worshiped God for was His mercy and grace in restoring them.
True worship is spiritual, so it is not dependent on outward means or methods, and it requires truth, which is a right evaluation of the situation.
Worship is an attitude of the heart.
Repentance means we can always come home.
“Tools of transformation”: Repentance and worship.
This is what God does for any and all who surrender to Him.
