1.) Learning to Discern = Acts 20:29, Matthew 7:15
The problem with so many false teachers is that they don’t look, act or sound like false teachers.
What is wrong, is what is missing; The Gospel.
One of the most recognizable errors of false teachers is not always what they say, it’s what they leave out.
ALL of God’s Word is crucial.
Remember, discernment requires examination.
2.) Look for the Teeth = Matthew 7:15
Mark 10:17-22, 1Timothy 6:9-10, James 5:1-6, Matthew 7:15, Exodus 25:1-9, Acts 11:29-30, 2Corinthians 8:1-7, 2Corinthians 8:16-24, 1Corinthians 9:11-18
I can’t find anywhere in Scripture where one can build a personal fortune by asking fellow Christians to give them money.
When they make the blessings of God conditional upon your giving to them, you have a problem.
God’s blessings are all free.
3.) The Controlling Power of God’s Word = Hebrews 4:12-13
If you are hurting physically or financially you are vulnerable emotionally.
One of the things the Word of God does is help us separate our emotions from the truth.
What will I believe? My emotions or God’s Word?
God’s Word is powerful and purposeful; let it define and direct your emotions.
Isaiah 55:11, Hebrews 4:12
4.) Faithfully Live Your Faith = Daniel 3:16-18, Matthew 26:39 and 1Timothy 6:6-8
The follower of Christ lives a surrendered life.
We work so we have something to share.
Ephesians 4:28, James 2:18
Being born again by God’s Spirit will lead to a life of service, discipleship and surrender.
God’s Word keeps my feet on the straight and narrow path when others would have me detour to the right or the left.
