We must develop better spiritual discernment if we are to not only survive in this world but thrive as witnesses for Christ.
2Timothy 3:1-5, Isaiah 30:9-11
1.) Teetering on the Brink = Jeremiah 5:30-31
Churches will explode in growth if you will tell people what they want to hear.
They have abandoned the systematic teaching of God’s Word.
2.) Fallen into Error = 1Timothy 1:18-20, 2Timothy 2:14-19, Matthew 23
One thing to watch out for is any ministry that seems to emphasize one particular area of faith over all else. This is an IMMEDIATE sign of imbalance.
They have abandoned the systematic teaching of God’s Word and thus the Gospel itself.
3.) Survival of the Balanced = Proverbs 4:27
God’s Word consistently appeals to a “balanced” life.
Matthew 7:13-14, Galatians 6:7-10, Ephesians 4:1
All of these things, and more, help establish and maintain a balanced Christian life.
4.) Choosing Your Path = 2Timothy 2:15
You don’t follow me, this Church, any other pastor, preacher, teacher or organization.
Matthew 7:13-14, John 21:22
If you wish to be confused, frustrated, defeated, and riding wave after wave of emotionalism, then don’t do anything; just believe whatever you are told.
