Here is the latest for all the FB people who keep asking. Sorry I haven’t been better at updating you all, but FB remains something I rather ignore most of the time. It is useful but I’d rather talk to you personally then do the social networking thing. That being said, it is still a great way to get info to many at once. So, Carol is doing okay. The last CT scan showed growth in the cancer in her liver and a spot in her right lung. She has not had any chemo since July and has been doing vitamins/supplements, juicing, exercise and acupuncture in the place of conventional stuff. Still, to this point nothing has worked. The cancer continues to grow and spread no matter what we have done. I don’t know what would have happened if we had done nothing or done something else. We have been besieged by “advice” from people about what we should do or questions like; “Have you tried such and so?” Yes we have, or at least researched it. Honestly, I could use a break on suggestions about what we might want to try. I know people want to help and they are concerned, but we have been doing our home work too!
There is a possibility of some more treatment through a clinical trial of a new drug that was originally through Stanford, but now Kaiser is also participating. Whether she does this or not is up to her and we are consulting with some doctors about this on Thurs. (Jan.7) Carol does her best everyday to do what she ought, but most importantly she draws near to the Lord daily, with Bible study and prayer. She is a great example of what happens to someone who has walked with Christ for almost 30 years and then has something like this happen. Her experience has drawn her closer to the Lord not pushed her away. This is what faith is for. If your faith cannot withstand this then what good is it?
Please keep the prayers coming, we just love the fact that people are praying for us. Feel free to call or email if you would like. Let me leave you with 2Corinthians 4:16-18…
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
God bless you all, seek Him today with all your heart, don’t delay…
Brian
Brian, thanks for taking the time to write and do an update.
We are so blessed with Carol’s stedfastness in Christ, and your loving and supportive husbanding. You are great examples to all.
We are continuing to pray for you both. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do.
Hi Brian-I always appreciate your updates as hard as they are to make. It’s easy to be a Christian during those easy times of our lives but as we have seen this year in our own family, I cannot imagine not being a Christian during difficult times because there is no one else or thing worthy of reliance but the Lord! He truly is our rock…steadfast and true! I love you both and will continue to pray for strength that only He can provide you both on a day by day basis!
Brian,
I do not know you and Carol and I ran in different circles in high school.
Nevertheless I want you to know that you are both in my prayers. May God grant you both grace and unflagging courage as you face this battle together.
You know that you are not alone.
Pax,
Michael Duran
Thank you for all the kind comments. Keeping up with everyone is hard to do! So I guess the blog and FB will have to do for now…
